Betrayal in the Cool Air

**Title: Betrayal in the Cool Air**

The summer heat blazed outside, but inside Jihoon's apartment, the air conditioner hummed softly, filling the room with a refreshing chill. Jihoon and Soyeong sat close together on the couch, enjoying the cool air as they held hands.

"Soyeong, I'm so glad we can escape the heat together," Jihoon said, his voice tender.

Soyeong smiled, squeezing his hand. "Me too, Jihoon. It feels like we have our own little oasis here."

As they sat there, the world outside seemed to melt away, leaving just the two of them in their bubble of cool air and contentment. They spent hours chatting, laughing, and enjoying each other's company, the air conditioner working overtime to keep their sanctuary comfortable.

Later that evening, as they prepared dinner together, Soyeong hesitated, her eyes downcast. She took a deep breath and turned to Jihoon.

"Jihoon, there's something I need to tell you," she began, her voice trembling slightly.

Jihoon looked up, concern etched on his face. "What is it, Soyeong?"

Soyeong bit her lip, gathering her courage. "I've been seeing someone else. I didn't mean for it to happen, but it did, and I can't keep lying to you."

Jihoon froze, the knife he was holding falling to the counter with a dull thud. "What? How long has this been going on?"

"About three months," Soyeong admitted, tears welling up in her eyes. "I never wanted to hurt you, but I can't go on like this."

Jihoon took a step back, pain and anger flashing in his eyes. "I can't believe this. After everything we've been through..."

Soyeong wiped her tears away, her voice breaking. "I'm so sorry, Jihoon. I never wanted to betray you."

Jihoon took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Soyeong, I have something to confess too."

Soyeong looked up, confusion mingling with her guilt. "What do you mean?"

Jihoon sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I've been seeing someone else too. I didn't know how to tell you, and I thought maybe we could work things out, but..."

Soyeong stared at him, shock rendering her speechless. "So, we both..."

Jihoon nodded slowly. "Yes, we both betrayed each other."

For a moment, the room was filled with nothing but the hum of the air conditioner, the cool air a stark contrast to the emotional turmoil between them.

Soyeong finally spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "What do we do now?"

Jihoon looked at her, a sad smile tugging at his lips. "I think we both know that we can't go back to how things were. Maybe it's time we face the truth and move on."

Soyeong nodded, fresh tears streaming down her cheeks. "You're right. As much as it hurts, it's the only way."

They stood in silence for a moment longer, the weight of their decisions settling over them like a heavy blanket. Finally, they turned away from each other, each taking a step towards a future apart.

As Soyeong left Jihoon's apartment, the cold air from the air conditioner followed her out, a bittersweet reminder of their time together. The door closed behind her with a soft click, and Jihoon stood alone in the cool, empty room.
